Jan Dobrovský

Founder of bpd partners family office.

He grew up in a dissident family that faced pressure from the communist establishment. He was involved in samizdat literature and contributed to the publication of the samizdat version of Lidové noviny. After 1989, he contributed to changes in society as a reporter at Lidové Noviny and later at Czechoslovak and Czech Television. He is the author of literary texts, a journalist and a photographer. He was an advisor and creator of investment strategies for domestic and foreign investors, later becoming an investor himself. He is a political person, whose main topic has always been human freedom and the never-ending fight for it.

The regime did not enable him to study his favoured zoology and he therefore became at least a zoo technician. From this period of his life he has retained his love of horses, which has accompanied him almost his whole life. In addition to this, he has been a documentary photographer for several years.

Jan Dobrovský is chairman of the Board of the Post Bellum Memory of Nations project. The Board groups together both those that remember, whose stories are recorded by Post Bellum in its oral history archive, and those that actively help to map the often heroic fates of the people that were willing to make personal sacrifices for freedom and democracy.
